Printing Labels

  1. Before printing labels you must create one or more custom list(s) or Contact Manager list(s). You also need to have the latest version of the Adobe Reader. To download and install this, please visit Download the Adobe Reader. Once you have created your list(s) click the Database tab at the top of the page, then click Output. Select Print Mailing Labels, choose your list(s) and then click Continue. On the final page select the appropriate print options and then click Download Now or Receive by Email. Please note that when you download ADBASE data in combination with My Contacts data your lists will not be deduped.
  2. ADBASE supports many different types of labels. The type of label you select will depend upon the type of envelopes or packages you are using for your direct mail campaign. Avery 5160 is good for postcards while Avery 5163 is good for 8.5" x 11" or larger envelopes. You can also use any label that is of the same size as those listed in the label options. For example, Avery 5660 labels are compatible with the Avery 5160 setting because they are the transparent version of those labels.
  3. About 99% of cases where labels do not line up properly are caused by the Page Scaling option in Adobe Reader's Print dialog box. To correct this, please change Page Scaling to None on your Print dialog box. If you don’t see the Page Scaling option, you may be using an older version of Adobe Reader. To upgrade to the latest version, please visit Download the Adobe Reader.
  4. You may need to adjust label spacing. Once you have created your custom list(s) click on the Database tab at the top of the page then click Output. Select Print Mailing Labels, choose your list(s), and then click Continue. On the final page select the appropriate print options, and before clicking Download Now or Receive by Email scroll down to Fixing Label Spacing and make the needed adjustments.
  5. No. Downloaded labels are meant for printing but not editing.
  6. To view your labels, you must have the latest version of the Adobe Reader. To download this, please visit Download the Adobe Reader. If you already have the Adobe Reader, it is possible that your labels are being corrupted during the download process. This is known to occur with some older versions of Internet Explorer on Mac computers. To get around this problem, try receiving your labels by email instead of downloading. This will send an email from our system to you with your labels included as an attachment.
  7. This problem is normally found with the PC version of Internet Explorer. The problem lies in how the Adobe Reader acts as a plug-in for your browser. For some reason, this does not work properly with some versions of Internet Explorer.

You have two options to get around this problem. Either you can Download Microsoft Internet Explorer or you can turn off Web Browser Integration in the Adobe Reader. To do this, start the Adobe Reader using an icon on your desktop, Apple dock or Start menu. In the Adobe Reader, from the Edit menu, select Preferences, then Internet. On the right side of the window, uncheck Display PDF in Browser and click OK. Next, close the Acrobat Reader and any browser windows that may be open. Finally, return to ADBASE and try downloading your labels again. This time you will be prompted to save your labels to your desktop.

Once you've disabled web browser integration you can open your labels directly in Adobe Reader by double-clicking the file. If you don’t see the Display PDF in Browser option, you may be using an older version of Adobe Reader. To upgrade to the latest version, please visit Download the Adobe Reader.
